This ONE Minute Easy Chocolate Frosting recipe is likely the quickest frosting you’ve ever made!
It comes together so fast and sets like a dream making this a go-to quick frosting recipe. It’s perfect for topping cakes, brownies and more!
Life is busy you guys! But, I am a firm believer that we should not sacrifice amazing things, like dessert because of that! Instead of opting for something prepackaged, this frosting recipe is perfect for adding something sweet to any baked goods treat in just about one minute flat.
I almost always have a big jar of homemade brownie mix on hand and when I whip them up, this is my go to topping! In fact, I’ve made this recipe a million times and used it to top everything from homemade chocolate poke cake to zucchini brownies.
This frosting sets very quickly, and when I say it really comes together in a flash, I’m not joking… ONE minute!! I use semi-sweet chocolate in this recipe, if you prefer a darker fudgy chocolate frosting, feel free to use dark chocolate instead!
While this frosting is incredibly easy to make, please make sure that you have cake/brownies completely cooled and ready to go before pouring it onto your cake/brownies! If adding toppings like sprinkles/m&ms they must be added immediately or they will not adhere to the frosting. You can really dress this up with anything and everything including nuts, candies, and sprinkles.
Another great perk of this easy chocolate frosting is that the process of spreading couldn’t be easier! Simply tilt pan to “spread” around immediately after pouring.

Actually incredibly tasty. I needed to make frosting quickly with basic ingredients after I accidentally purchased expired frosting from a store. This is a dream recipe. I used the left over to create a pseudo fudge after lining a dish with parchment and cooking it in the fridge overnight.
How could I adapt this for vanilla/other flavors? Is it okay to just leave out the chocolate chips or does that ruin the consistency? Thanks!
I have only tried this recipe as written but I don’t think you would get the correct consistency for frosting without the chocolate chips Meg.
What kind of sugar is used? Granulated or Confectioners’?
This uses granulated sugar Robin. Enjoy!
I started out making this to frost some brownie mini cupcakes I made, however, it was a little grainy (my fault) and I decided to leave the cupcakes later. I left them to cool and when I came back the frosting had hardened a bit. Rolled it into little balls and put in the fridge. The next day I had this amazing fudge. My husbank said to “not lose the recipe”… Really delicious. YUM11
Does this frosting always turn out sugary?
What can I do to not have sugar granules?
Did you allow the sugar to over medium-high heat for 45 seconds? This is the step that should dissolve the sugar.
This is so easy and delicious. It poured over my chocolate bunt cake like a dream.
I surrounded the cake with chocolate chips as the icing collected at the bottom of the cake plate. It made a lovely presentation for the church bake sale. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
Very best chocolate icing! If you like chocolate cake, this is the icing to use, simple, fast and foolproof
Thank you
This is my go to brownie frosting. It’s so quick and easy and tastes AMAZING. I use caster sugar and 2 100g bags of dark chocolate chips from Lidl. So good!!
This is so great fast and taste so good next time I’m doubling recipe.
Almost identical frostin g to my mom’s cooked frosting but easier and even better tasting! Love this recipe!
Unbelievably easy and delicious. My new go to!
Delicious and so easy to make. It’s the only frosting I use now!
Frosting is good
Quick and very easy. Work quickly. Fast to set up on cooled cake. Co-workers loved it and it disappeared quickly.
What type of butter is being used? Unsalted??
We use unsalted butter in this recipe, Luckita!
Wow! This came out perfect for me!! It was the right consistency and taste delicious. Thank you so much!
I’m not much of a cook, but this was the best tasting and easiest frosting ever! I was out of confectioners sugar and searched for an alternative recipe for frosting. I’m so glad I found this one!
The frosting was just too runny it sled to the outer part of the cake not just all the cake.
Yes Dagan, this is a pourable frosting. Was your cake flat in the middle? if there was a dome in the middle, the frosting will not settle there. Hope that helps.
Sounds like you might not have let the cake cool completely.
