Air fryers have totally revolutionized the home cook’s kitchen! It doesn’t matter if it’s regular potatoes or sweet potatoes, these spuds are a cinch to make!
What Air Fryer is Best?
For people who want to follow a healthier diet with less oil and fats in their cooking, air fryers are a miracle appliance! This is truly one of my most used appliances.
There are different types of Air Fryers and I have purchased a few to test out.
- MY TOP PICK FOR AIR FRYERS is the Cosori Air Fryer 5.8QT. I love the large capacity of this air fryer, it’s a fairly reasonable price, easy to clean and cooks beautifully.
Other Air Fryers I have used:
- T-Fal Actifry 2-in-1 which works great for things like wings and fries but is not ideal for more delicate items. This air fryer tosses the items to help ensure even cooking and it also has a tray to set on top for cooking things like burgers or chicken breasts.
- Breville Smart Oven Air: This air fryer is very pricey but cooks a lot at once and can be used as a toaster oven, oven (even holds a 9×13 pan), slow cooker and an air fryer. I don’t find it works as well as an air fryer as the Cosori above but it’s a good choice if you want an appliance that does many things at once.

Ingredients & Variations
POTATOES The best potatoes for baking are of the starchy variety.
Russets, red-skinned, and fingerlings work well because they hold their shape while cooking and are starchy and absorbent for all the amazing toppings!
SEASONINGS Olive oil and kosher salt are all that’s needed to season these potatoes perfectly!
VARIATIONS Season with Cajun, homemade seasoned salt, or Everything Bagel seasoning to add some zing! Fresh dill, garlic, or even cilantro would all taste great!
TOPPINGS Sour cream, sliced green onions, bacon bits, leftover chili or beans, nacho cheese, salsa, sauteed onions, bell peppers, or mushrooms, shredded cheese.
How to Make Air Fryer Baked Potatoes
It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3 to make baked potatoes in the air fryer!
- Simply wash, dry, and season the potatoes with oil and salt.
- Pierce potatoes with a fork, place in the air fryer and cook 25 minutes.
- Turn them over and cook another 20 to 30 minutes or until tender.
Tips for Perfect Potatoes
- Look for potatoes that are uniform in size so they bake at the same rate.
- Scrub them underwater and pat dry before preparing, so that the skins can be eaten too if desired.
- Remember to poke potatoes with a fork so the steam can escape and the heat can evenly penetrate the flesh (otherwise, potatoes can explode).
- Season generously.

Air Fryer Baked Potatoes
Equipment
Ingredients
- 4 medium russet potatoes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- kosher salt to taste
Instructions
- Scrub potatoes with water and dab dry. Poke each potato with a fork several times.
- Generously rub with oil and season with salt.
- Place potatoes in the air fryer at 390°F (no need to preheat).
- Cook 25 minutes, turn potatoes over and cook an additional 20-30 minutes or until tender when pierced with a fork.
- Serve with desired toppings.
Notes
For great flavor, rub the outside of the potato with bacon grease instead of oil.

I like your style and ideas but there’s one more thing you need to add when you’re sharing a recipe. You’ve done a great job of including the nutritional breakdowns but you don’t seem to be adding a portion size. In this recipe it could be per ounce or per serving size but you need to tell us what that size is. You specify medium potatoes but how many ounces would that be?
Another recipe that’s really neat is your version of Cracker Barrel hashbrown casserole and again you’ve listed nutrion but not portion size. Whether it’s by literal size as in a 4×4 portion or by ounces we need to know how much we’re looking at to get the real perspective on our diet.
I hope I haven’t somehow missed the portion specs, I love your work and I hope you get tons of great feedback.
